- There was a lot of insulting and problems during the election campaigns. For example, John Adams called Jefferson an atheist and bashed him for not being a Christian. He used this against him and he turned people against Jefferson. Alexander Hamilton was backing up Jefferson so people turned back to him, since Hamilton was a very popular man.The Division of the Federalists was a disagreement between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. The Federalists wanted a strong central government, while the Anti-Federalists wanted to focus more on state powers.

- The tie was a tie of votes between Jefferson and Burr. This would decide their fates as presidents. They both won 73 votes each. The tie broke and Jefferson won when the Federalist House of Representatives chose Jefferson to win.The 12th Amendment was created to fix future ties like the one in 1800. The new Amendment stated that people voted for one president and one vice president, both from the same party.
