- One day, Grenouille awakes from his deep state and realizes he can't pick up his own scent! He climbs to the top of the mountain, and stands in the wind, attempting to revive his smell. When that doesn't work, he knows that it was time for him to leave....
- If I have no scent...then I have no identity!! I can't keep living like this, I must go back...
- When Grenouille goes back into town he looks so terrible that he has to lie to the town's mayor, saying that he had been kidnapped imprisoned for the past 7 years. There he meets the marquis and agrees to work as his test subject. Grenouille only agrees because he believes the marquis will be useful to him.
- He has no idea....hehe
- Yeah I was kidnapped....
- Yeah I can see that.....How about working for me in the city?
- One day, after moving to the city of Montpelier, Grenouille decides to make a replicated human-scented perfume. When he uses it, he notices that people are no longer isolating him, this caused him to be more confident and social.
