- Long ago, the elements of all kinds were mixed together, to create one germ of life.

- From this germ, a dark and light part arose. This made the earth.
- From the ocean grew green shoot.It grew and grew, until it reached the clouds, where it transfromed into a god.

- The God grew lonely, so it made other gods.
- The last two the God made, Izanagi and Izanami, were the most recongizable.

- One day they were walking, and they wondered what was beneath the water. Izangi threw his staff in the water, then clumps of mud appeared, and hardened to what we know as 'Japan'.
- They were amazed with what they made, they agreed to go in different directions, making all the animals and plants we see today.

- When they later met up again, they married. They had 3 children.
- The first child Izanami bore was of radiant beauty, and was sent up to be the sun.The second child was sent to be the moon, and the third was sent to be the ruler of the seas, creating the waves and oceans.

- Later, Izanami's first child gave birth to the first emporer of Japan, and ever since, the decendents of the emperors ruled over Japan
