- Edgar was a 13-year-old orphan. he was alone because his family died because Native Americans killed them. he was hoping to have a better life so he was going west to find gold but he was scared and worried he will die.

- As he is going west, his wagon broke down. He is all alone and does not know what to do
- lets go i fixed it now i can get gold
- he had to stay the night in a tent one night while traveling west it starts to get dark, he is sacred because he thinks the Native Americans will kill him too.
- i found gold lets goooooo!
- He made it through the night even do he was shivering cold. He woke up and tries to fix the wagon
- He fixed the wagon. but he still has to get there to find gold to have a better life he packs all his stuff up and leaves
- He gets there then he finds gold. in the mine and got rich. And now he is living a better life than he was
