Character vs. Society
Hello, I am Ezekiel. I am sorry to have barged in, but Brother STevens said it would be okay. I am a runaway slave and had to leave my family for hope for becoming a free man up North.
There is a runaway slave in my home! I must stay calm, this is my home anyway.
Character vs. Character
Fine! I’m going to be a factory girl!
You're Dismissed!!!
You’ll regret this! She's the best worker you’ve ever had!
This shows character vs. nature because this is a problem that puts the family in danger. Since, this conflict has come from a bear it counts as character vs. nature. This conflict shows how Lyddie can quickly take charge, and help her family. This trait helps her save her family from the bear.
This is Character vs. Society because Ezekiel is being unfairly treated by the society because he just wants to be free with his family and they are hunting him just because they think he is inferior to him. This is unfair because the only reason they think this is because he has a different skin color than them. This conflict makes it hard for Ezekiel to live his life.
This is character vs. character because Mistress Cutler has a problem with Lyddie leaving for a break and fires her. This causes a dilemma for Lyddie, since she needs to pay off the debt for her family and she just lost her job. Fortunately, Lyddie decides she is going to be a factory girl in Lowell, Mass.
