  • Good day class! Today I will discuss about the History of Stellar Nucleosynthesis.
  • While I'm discussing , I will do an ask and give points to those who answers my question.
  • Stellar nucleosynthesis is the process by which elements are created within stars by combining the protons and neutrons together from the nuclei of lighter elements.
  • Sir may I answer?
  • So, who's the first people suggest the nuclear fusion reactions?
  • Arthur Eddington, Suggested in 1920 that the nuclear fusion were taking place in the stars.
  • Yes Emily, you state the name and explain it..
  • It's correct! Thanks for answering Emily.
  • The conversion of hydrogen to helium was the stellar source of energy. After that George Gamow developed formula to calculate the probability of such reactions taking place.
  • How do you calculate Gamow's formula, class?
  • That's right Farrah! By using the equation P{g}(E)=e^{-{\sqrt {\frac {E_{g}}{E}}}}}[2]
  • Sir, using the Gamow's Factor or Gammow-Sommorfeld factor we can get the probability factor of two nuclear particles'..
  • Also, Hans Bethe proposed two cycles. The first one was proton-proton cycle and the second one is CNO or Carbon-Nitrogen-Oxygen Cycle.
  • In 1946, Fred Hoyle suggested that the heavier nuclei are forming in the stars, such as carbon and iron.
  • Later on, Hoyles theory has many corrections.
  • And that's the history of how the stellar nucleosynthesis evolve. Do you class understand my discussion? Do you have any question?
  • Yes Sir!None so far
  • Thank you sir and goodbye!
  • Okay class if you don't have any questions you may now dismiss. Thank you and have a nice day everyone!
