- Callum's father doesn't want callum to go to the magisterium. Callum’s mother got killed in a wizard war. When wizards go to war the masters of the school are not held responsible for death. The people at the magisterium don’t even know who dies at war and don’t care,it’s like dying underground in a labyrinth not even knowing someone cares for you and not being able to see the sunlight for the very last time.He doesn't want Callum experiencing what his mother did. Also because Callum doesn't really know who he is ?

- "The magisterium , you know the school? Where we are going to be apprentices?"
- "But where is it exactly? Where are the tunnels? And Do you think they lock us in our rooms at night?Are there bars on the windows?"
- Callum so happy that he can talk to his dad, he is talking to his dad through the spinning tornado.
- “ Yeah I’m okay. It’s really not bad her. I mean, it can be boring sometimes-and scary other times. But I’m learning stuff. I’m not such a bad mage.”
