- “Copernicus, is that you?”
- “Raheem! Long time no see, how have you been, dear old friend?”
- “I’ve heard that you now study the stars and the universe. Is this true? Did you graduate even though that old professor disliked you?”
- “No, I couldn’t graduate; even though I spent more than four years at that university, my uncle sent me to Bologna, Italy. There I studied canon law.”
- “Oh, I get it now"
- “Yes, I started to create my theories about the universe that I thought made sense. Moving to a place as advanced as Italy helped in a myriad of ways.”
- “When I met you, you talked about your father and that you disobeyed him, even when he was dying. Why?”
- “I don’t know. I wanted him to die peacefully and without worrying about me. I sometimes think about what would’ve happened if I hadn’t lied to him.”
- “I understand why you did it. When my mother died, she wanted me to become a carpenter.
- “Yes, I did listen. After I got expelled from the university, I became a carpenter and followed my mother’s dream.
- “And you listened?”
- Raheem and Copernicus kept on contemplating the sky while they carried on prattling about their pasts and how they got there until it finally got serious. Raheem asked Copernicus about why he disobeyed his father.
- They both concluded their conversation and went their separate ways. Raheem had parted without knowing that three weeks later, after this conversation, he would die.
