  • The Greeks tried to push the Persians, but the Persians pushed them with more force. The Greeks were spread out and surrounded them on three sides. When the Persians retreated, the Greeks pushed on and slaughtered the Persians.
  • This was a turning point because the Greeks won, which meant the Delian League was formed which meant the city-states were united, and the Persians did not attack again for a while.

  • The Athenians went to port Aegospotami to get badly needed food and supplies, but the Spartans captured the Athenian fleet easily and forced them to surrender.
  • This impacted Athens because they were defeated and now under control of Sparta. It impacted Greece because the city-states broke out into wars and started fighting each other.
  • 405 BCE
  • This was a turning point because everyone feared Alexander the Great and no one dared to get in his way. This way, he could keep conquering lands and be the greatest warrior ever. People liked him because he let them govern their territory the same, so they didn't oppose him.
  • Alexander the Great conquered the Persian capital and looted the whole palace. He gave the gold to his generals and soldiers, and the territories he had conquered.
