- Katniss finds out that Peeta betrayed her. She was laying in the tree when she heard the career tributes talking below her. She realized that Peeta was one of the voices and he teamed up with the career tributes.

- Katniss drops the tracker jacker's nest onto the career tributes. One of the girls dies and Katniss tries to take the girl's bow. She hears another tribute coming and realizes it is Peeta and he is telling her to run away because another tributes was coming.

- Bye, Rue
- Katniss and Rue decided to become allies. unfortunately Rue gets struck with a sword from one of the other tributes. Katniss kills him with her bow and then sings to Rue and covers her with flowers.

- An announcement is made saying that two people can win as long as they are from the same district. Katniss runs to find Peeta so they can team up. She finds him severely injured so she helps clean him up and look at his injuries.

- Katniss finds a cave where she can hide Peeta until he gets better. They spend most of their time in the cave due to a thunderstorm. In the cave they talk to each other and keep up the act that they are in love.
