1. Bowman's capsule

2. Glomerulus (Tuft of capillaries) present in the Bowman's capsule

3. Proximal convoluted tubule or ascending limb

4. Loop of Henle

5.Distal convoluted tubule or descending limb

What is the function of the nephron?

• Ultrafiltration
• Selective reabsorption
• Tubular secretion

Ultra Filtrationtakes place in the glomerulus of the Bowman's capsule under high osmotic pressure.

Selective Reabsorption- From glomerular filtrate, some substances like water, salts, sugars, Amino acids are selectively reabsorbed

Tubular secretion- Urine is formed and secreted via collecting duct into the ureter
