People are affected by floods and there is no proper storage of rainwater in many states.Raj: The Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) scheme, a brainchild of Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, was launched in 2001 in a bid to rejuvenate water sources.Sam: West Bengal govt.had launced a programme named "Jal Dharo-Jal Bharo" was launched during 2011-12 with the aim on preserving precious water resources by large scale harvesting of rain water as well asarresting runoff of surface water.
  • Raj: Tamil Nadu government has made installation of "RainwaterHarvesting" scheme mandatory for all builings, including houses, commercial establishments, and public institutions in 2003.Sam: Rainwater harvesting in West Bengal has seen some adoption, particularly in certain urban areas and institutions.
  • Raj: The implementation of rainwater harvesting in Tamil Nadu has been quite successful, leading to an increase in groundwater levels and availability of water during the dry seasons.
