- Look Cal! What a beautiful bird!
- Wow Pop! You better write about those birds on your notebook!

- Well kiddo...you're Creek Indian.

- Young man! Stay still!
- Oh, uh. Yes ma'am!
- Cal and Pop are on a dirt road in their raggedy clothes while Pop is writing in his notebook about nature. Pop notices birds flying in the sky and shows Cal as they both bond and enjoy watching the birds.
- Climax
- I'll be back, I promise. I just have to follow my instincts on this. Bye Possum.
- I'll miss ya Jaybird. I know you'll be ok, good luck.
- Cal and Pop are on a boxcar while Cal thinks that they are both going to Washington, Pop breaks the news that Cal is Creek Indian. This leads to Cal doubting his identity and feeling confused.
- Falling Action
- This is a beautiful letter son! I'll treasure and protect it!
- Thanks pop! I wish I could've sent the letter while I was at Challagi!
- Cal is in the school infirmary with Mrs. Whilting, the nurse, who commands Cal to stay still while she attempts to cut his hair. However, Cal is nervous and cannot help but fiddle and move around. Luckily, Cal makes sure to stay obedient and respectful to the nurse.
- Resolution
- I have to follow my own road Pop. I'll miss you, more than you can imagine.
- Know that I'll always be proud of you. I love you son.
- Possum and Cal are saying goodbye to each other at night because Cal realizes he has to go save Pop in Washington. Before Cal rides off with Dakota to a train stop, he assures Possum that he'll be back. As a good friend, Possum wishes him good luck on his journey to save Pop.
- Cal and Pop are sitting in a lodge in front of a bonfire, talking about a heartwarming letter Cal wrote while he was at Challagi. Cal wasn't able to send the letter to Pop because he didn't know his address but Pop assures him that he will keep and protect the letter.
- Cal and Pop go somewhere far away from Washington because of all the commotion happening there, Cal tells Pop that he has to follow his own path. Pop supports Cal's decision and tells him that he will always be proud of him.
