- Rising Action
- In the exposition we are introduced to Hazel who is also known as Squeaky and her brother Raymond. Hazel is a tough little girl who is very serious about two things running and caring for her brother Raymond who has a disability (Hydrosephalus) that makes him act very childlike and can not take care of himself. Squeaky does not mind taking care of her brother and is fiercely protective over him.
- Climax
- Squeaky is strolling down broadway with Raymond practicing breathing excercise to prepare for the race . When they suddenly run into Gretchen and her "sidekicks" who try to fight with Squeaky. Gretchen is still determined that she is going to win. Squeaky is challenged to a race.
- Falling Action
- The results are in and.... Squeaky Wins!!!!
- Squeaky and Gretchen reach the finish line almost the same time. Squeaky realizes Raymond running next to her.
- Resolution
- Squeaky and Gretchen waiting for the results to be announced. While waiting for the results Squeaky Realizes that there is many other things she can do besides running.
- Squeaky wins the race. Squeaky realizes Gretchen is not such a bad person. Squeaky and Gretchen share a smile of respect between them.
- Squeaky realizes Raymond's potential as a runner and decides to sacrifice her desire and wants. to train Raymond for next year's race.
