Lennie and Curley's Wife are in the barn together and Curley's wife lets Lennie touch her hair. This gets out of hand when Lennie grabs on to her hair and doesn't let go. He covers her mouth to stop her from screaming then George snaps her neck by accident.
Lennie realizes what he's done and is afraid of what George is going to tell him that he can't tend the rabbits anymore. Lennie decides to run away from the ranch so no one could find him.
Lennie goes and hides in the brush as George told him to whenever he is in trouble. Lennie waits until George comes to find him
"Im lookin', George I'm lookin."
"Right across that river there. Can't you almost see it?"
Candy goes into the barn to find Lennie and talk to him about the plan then he finds Curley's Wife laying dead on the ground. Candy is in shock he doesn't know what to say so he goes to find George.
Candy finds George and tells him that he can't find Lennie and that he has found Curley's Wife dead. They go into the barn to investigate and see what happened. They both realize that Lennie has done and they go tell the rest of the ranch what happened.
George find Lennie and tells him to look away he pulls out Carlson's gun from his pocket. George does this because he doesn't want the other guys from the ranch to kill Lennie.
