- family units were considered for "unit of production" to produce food. This even included extended family working and living in the same household to produce food, care for each other when in sickness and educate however this was not always the norm.

- Advancements in technology were made as well as railroads and roadways making it easy for travel and mobilization
- factories provided jobs for members of the families and other areas of work still revolved around the home and caring for the sick. People could not simply get jobs from connections but had to work for these positions
