- Tomas is was not expecting to have to save people in the testing. "Tomas's face swims in front of me. His eyes are wary and filled with concern" quoet from page 157. From this we can see from his reaction that he does not have a strong and brave face when helping her. He was not expecting to be a hero and doen't now how to act like one.
