The power of wind erosion is dependent on the particle size and whether it can be picked up, as well as the strength of the wind. The power of wind erosion is enhanced in arid regions as the particles are easier to pick up, not being bound to the water and vegetation of the soil as would be found in more humid climates.
Abrasion: Particles moved by wind coming into contact with a surface, eroding that surface.
Ventifacts: Stones that are polished and faceted due to the abrasion from sand particles.

The Grand Canyon: The Colorado River carved this canyon of nearly 300 miles, over the course of millions of years.
The Wave: A small ravine in Arizona that was created from a combination of wind and water erosion of the sandstone. It's considered to be one of the most photographed landscapes in the United States.
Famous landmarks caused by erosion.
Yosemite Valley/Lyell Canyon: These two large U shaped canyons in Yosemite National Park were created by glaciers passing through, slowly removing rock and debris.

Farming and tilling, as well as overgrazing of livestock over a large area disrupts the roots that stabilize sediment and soil.
Human made infrastructures such as housing projects and road construction contribute to soil loss/displacement
Some man-made causes of erosion
Mass deforestation, especially through clear-cutting, leaves the soil vulnerable to erosion.
