- Conflicts arise in the family of Nnaemeka and his father Okeke over his son's disapproval of an arranged marriage with Okeke's neighbor, Ugoye, and going to marry a person outside of their Ibo tribe, Nene.

- Nnaemeka and his wife Nene get married and send Okeke, Nnaemeka's dad a wedding photo. Okeke sends it back with Nene' cut out of the picture and saying that "It amazes me that you could be so unfeeling as to send me your wedding picture.".
- After 8 years of ignoring Nnaemeka, Okeke recieves a letter from Nene that he has grandkids that would like to meet him. He realizes how much he missed out on due to a stupid conflict between him and Nnaemeka.
- During the 8 years, Okeke hated his son so much that if he heard his name he would become infuriated.
