- M. Loisel brings home an invitation to his wife, Mathilde Loisel.

- I THINK I LOST IT!!
- Madame Loisel doesn't have a dress or any jewelry to wear for the party. So her husband gives her the money which he had saved for purchasing a gun so that his wife could buy a dress and also has the idea of going to Madame Forestier for a borrowing necklace.
- FALLING ACTION
- Now we have to change our lifestyle and take up new jobs to pay off the debt
- Madame Forestier lets Mathilde borrow one of her necklaces. Mathilde eventually buys a dress and she has a good time at the party.
- RESOLUTION
- Um...My necklace was fake
- WHAT!?!?!?!
- When they got home from the ball, Mathilde realizes that the necklace that she was borrowing was missing.
- Mathilde's husband borrows money from people by making ruinous promises in order to buy a new necklace
- Mathilde sees Madame Forestier and explain why her life was rough because of that necklace. After she mentions the necklace, Madame Forestier says that the necklace was fake.
