- I Love You
- It was dark gloomy and mysterious, a huge storm taking place which imposes his feeling on the weather (pathetic fallacy)-"the sullen winds". "vex the lake".
- She's mine!
- She glided in and shut out the storm and "made cheerless graze blaze up" and took off her "soiled gloves" and "dripping cloak and shawl".
- She lets her hair down- a sign of lose morals as its lose hair which implies that she is letting herself be sexually available to him. She then sits with him eyes full of adoration and tries constantly to speak to him and "murmuring how she loved" him.
- He finally realizes that she really does love him and that she belongs to him as from that point onward.
- He wants to keep her love and her innocent soul forever just for him to have it to himself so he wraps her hair three times around and then, he strangled her, using her hair as a rope which is ironic as he goes on about his love for her hair.
- He then mimics the same position his dead lover did to him with her head laying limply on his shoulder, as he feel justified in his actions as "God has not said a word!"
