- There are other kinds of maps like the Portolan Chart which is a type of map used by pilots that radiates from the center in the direction of wing or compass points.
- The Galleon was multi-decked sailing ships first used as armed cargo carriers by European states from the 16th to 18th century. The Carrack was a three or four-masted ocean-going sailing ship that was developed in the 14th to 15th centuries in Europe, notably in Portugal. The Caravel was a small highly-maneuverable sailing ship developed in the 15th century by the Portuguese to explore along the West Coast and into the Atlantic Ocean.
- There are also some famous ships know throughout history such as the Galleon, Carrack and Caravel.
- We no longer use maps in it's physical form from the variety of materials its made of, usually the maps are in our smart devices.
