- Quest for knowledge: After encountering a ship on an expedition to find a passage way, an ambitious Victor Frankenstein recounts his life story to Captain Walton
- Quest for knowledge: Victor possesses the ability to create life. Whilst in his journey to achieve knowledge, Victor did not consider the outcomes of the situation
- Fear and Abandonment: Abandoned, the creature is rejected by Victor because of his appearance. The creature becomes feared and rejected by society, thus causing him to hide to avoid further rejection. Through a peephole, the creature learns about the world, but is never truly a part of it. :(
- Fear and Rejection: Vengeful, the creature makes Victor feel his pain by murdering Victor's loved ones. This left Victor all alone in the world, much like the creature.
- Nature vs. Nurture: The creature's nature is a direct result of his isolation, rejection, fear, and Victor's abandonment. The creature is left to learn basic human tasks on his own, causing the beginning of his malevolence.

- The creature's life could have been different. Had Victor nurtured and cared for him like a father instead of abandoning him, the creature would have been raised in a beneficial way.
