"Hello, Margaret!" George the pharmacist chirped. "I have your mother's medications ready for you." "How is she doing?"
His Seemingly chipper attitude fell. "18.70." "I'm sorry Margaret, I really am. The company we outreach from has upped their prices-"
"Hello George. She's doing...better." "How much?" I asked, preparing myself for yet another, outrageous price.
"I..okay. Just this once, because I know you." George whispered. "But I cant help out like this again. Give me what you have"
I handed over the $15.00 I had. "have a good day." I mumbled, taking the medicine.
"Have a good day, Margaret." George replied sadly
This was beyond outrageous. "George, please. You know it's just Joey and I right now. Please help us out this once-" I was so overwhelmed, I could feel tears stinging my eyes...God please don't let me cry.
I left the Pharmacy, and slumped down on its outer stairs. placing Mamma's medication near my feet, I put my head in my hands out of exhaustion. I was so tired, I was so tired of being tired and sad all the time.
