  • Trade Union Committee discusses the issue
  • I've had a meeting with the workers. They want a 10% wage increase and they say the employers are not cooperating.
  • If the employers continue to refuse, workers will stop working and go on strike.
  • We need to have a meeting with the employers urgently.
  • Employers must understand that they will have more trouble in their company by not listening to their workers.
  • Trade Union has meeting with employers
  • Workers are unhappy and feel unvalued and under appreciated. We will not accept a zero % increase.
  • We want a 10% wage increase for all employees
  • We have had a 20% loss of sales and revenue this year. We cannot just give increases when the company hasn't made more money!
  • We reject the request of 10% wage increase.
  • Trade Unions Secretary relays employers response back to workers
  • They have rejected the terms.
  • Union officials must first speak with the Trade Union committee before making any decisions on how to proceed.
  • Workers want to strike

  • Deadlock: Neither of the two parties have accepted each others terms. There has been a failure in the collective bargaining.

  • Section 23 of the LRA 66 of 1995 states that any worker has the legal right to strike
  • We will strike until we are happy!
  • STRIKE!!
  • Strike notice: A written notice of the strike needs to be presented to the employer at least 48 hours proper to commencement of said strike.
  • First we will contact the CCMA to have a meeting with the employers to aid in this dispute. Should that not be successful, we will send out a strike notice. That is a 48 hour notice period of our intent to strike. This will allow us to do this legally.
  • A CCMA commissioner gets involved to try and settle the dispute. All parties are present at this conciliation meeting. Since there is still no consensus, the CCMA will issue a certificate stating that the dispute remains unresolved.
