- In 1931 Japan invaded the Chinese province of Manchuria so they could get raw materials for their industries. In 1937 Japan had controlled large places in China and they acted in major war crimes including raping women and beating their people.!

- January 10th 1942 Japan tried to take oil from the rich areas of the East Indies. The U.S. had enough of Japan and placed an embargo on their materials like oil and metal that was going to Japan. They got angry.

- In wanting revenge ,during April of 1941, Japan worked on the Pearl Harbor plan. December 7th, Japan attacked they sunk ships, destroyed planes, and killed people. They nearly succeeded crippling the U.S. Pacific fleet.
