- Mr. Patch-Withers held a term tea for the Upper Middle class that afternoon. Finny held multiple conversations about the bombing while Gene was more on the side. Finny then begone to talk to Mrs. Patch-Withers.
- " 'I think we ought to bomb the living daylights out of them,...' "(26).
- This morning when getting ready, Finny used a tie as a belt by accident. It was a Devon School tie. Gene was becoming happy at the thought that Finny wouldn't get away with something.

- "Although I have to admit I didn't think of that when I put it on this morning.' "(28).

- "We left the party, both of us feeling fine. I laughed along with Finny, my best friend, and also unique, able to get away with anything." (28).
