- My mom arrived to Milwaukee, Oregon on August 18,1997. She liked how big her house was, but she also found her first years in the U.S quiet and boring. She was used to the constant sound in India instead of the quiet suburbs.
- My mom had my sister, Urmi, on July 22, 1998. My dad also had gotten a cat named Puff-Puff, who never quite got along with my mom.
- In 2005, my mom, dad and sister moved to an apartment in Lake Oswego, Oregon. It was a big shift from the big house, but it was also a good size for three people.
- I was born on August 24, 2006. My family moved to a new house in Portland, Oregon. My mom loved Portland because of its culture and focus on nature. One of her favorite parts of our house was the roses in our front garden. Fitting for the "City of Roses"
- My mom really loves celebrating Christmas in the US. In India, Christmas is more focused on everyone going to church. But in the US, my mom loves the gifts, decorations, and songs. Yet, it is harder to celebrate many Indian holidays in the US. However, my family has always made celebrating both cultures work.
- After my sister decided to go to college in Baltimore, my whole family moved as well. Since we have a small family, we thought it would be best to stay all together. We moved into an apartment in Baltimore in 2016.
