Frederick Douglass was born as Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey year 1818 as a slave, he never met his dad, and he barely knew his mother. When he was older, his mistress taught him the alphabet, here husband later stopped this and she became crueler.This did not stop Fredrick, he befriended white kids, while he went on errands, they taught him how to read.

Frederick Douglass later escaped with the help of his lover Anna Murray and would be married in New York City. They later move to Massachusetts where he became a orator and abolitionist and would write for the abolitionist publication: The Liberator. He would write "Narrative of the Life Of Frederick Douglass an American Slave", published in 1845. He would continue writing for abolitionist newspapers. Later he would pushed President Abraham Lincoln to prioritize Black Freedom, which would play a significant role in President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation.

After the Civil war Frederick Douglass would continue to travel, give speeches, and revise books he wrote. He was the president of the Freeman's saving bank, United States Marshal for the District of Columbia, and Minister-resident and consul-general to the Republic of Haiti. Later he died on February 20, 1896.
