- During the 1800's, women had very few rights, they were expected to stay home, cook, clean, and take care of the children. Many women did not even get an education. The men were the ones who got to be involved in politics, could vote, and own property, etc.
- Elizabeth Cady Stanton was a leader in the Women's Rights movement. She helped to organize many events for fighting for the equal rights of women, including the Seneca Falls Convention. This was the first American women's rights convention, Stanton and a few other leaders led the convention. In the end, 68 women and 32 men signed the Declaration of Sentiments, which was modeled on the Declaration of Independence.
