- God told Moses to take his people to the rock. He told him to then hit the rock once. So Moses promised to God he would bring water to his people.
- God told Moses to hit the rock once but he hit the rock twice out of impatient that it didnt work the first time.
- God was furious at Moses for hitting the rock twice instead of once like he had promised. So God punished him by not letting him enter the promised land.
