- Rhea, a princess, was enslaved by her evil uncle so that she could never have children. until she escaped and got married with the god of war mars, and had twin boys
- Her uncle found out, and killed Rhea and Mars, and sent someone to kill the twin, but the servant didn’t have the courage so he sent down the Tiber river.
- A she-wolf whose babies had just died found the babies a long way down the river, Romulus and Remus survived on the milk of the she-wolf until they were rescued by a shepherd.
- The shepherd and his wife raised the two boys as if they were their own children. Romulus and Remus grow up to be powerful men.They left home a few years later to construct a city on the banks of the Tiber.
- Both men wanted to name the city after its ruler but they could not decide which of them would make the best ruler.They fought a fierce war, and Romulus was victorious.
- Romulus was the first emperor of Rome, and he called the city after himself.
