  • Proclamation of 1763The proclamation of 1763 was issued after the french and Indian war. It made it so the colonists couldn't go on the land that they fought to take from the french. This made the colonists very mad because they felt that they should be able to go on that land. They also thought the British only took that land so they could keep an eye on the colonists. This made the colonists very angry and put the British on thin ice.
  • sugar actThe sugar act was created in 1764 to help pay off Britain's debt from the French and Indian war. It also raised taxes on sugar. This angered the colonists because they thought their rights were being violated. They were also mad because Britain sent over more navy officials to make sure everyone was being properly taxed. This made the colonists feel very watched and they felt like they couldn't do anything they wanted to do.

  • Townshend actThe townshend act was put into place in 1767. The British still needed money to pay for the war and needed another way to get it. They ended up taxing things like glass,lead, paint, paper, and most importantly, tea. Of course the colonists were furious. They once again boycotted British goods until they took it away.
  • Boston massacreThe Boston massacre was a deadly riot held on march 5, 1770. Colonists were shouting and throwing things at British soldiers, mad about the Townshend acts. The soldiers shot into the crowd and killed 5 people. some people thought this was an act of self defense but others say it was purposeful. This event outraged the colonists and fueled the colonist's hatred towards their mother country.
