- In spite of doctors being pessimistic about Gina's condition, Gina's mother made the choice to advocate for her and fight for her to be treated as equal to her peers.
- As an educator, I should be encouraging to all students and parents. Like Gina's mother, I believe that each student has the capability for success and high achievement.
- Gina had an assistant with her on the bus, in the classroom, and at home. As an educator, I should be welcoming and cooperative with the helpers that parents have entrusted their children to, as they play crucial roles and we can work together for the students' benefit!
- Gina's mother had to advocate heavily for her to be placed in a preschool classroom that she knew would benefit her daughter despite resistance from the school. As an educator I should listen to parents as much as I can, as they often know their children best.
- Gina's preschool teacher helped her to make great progress while she was part of the class. I should try to be like her and make my classroom welcoming for all students to grow, learn, and reach their full potential!
