- "He threw himself on me like a wild bear, beating me in the chest, on the head, throwing me to the ground, and picking me up again crushing me with ever more violent blows, until I was covered in blood." (Wiesel 53) This is man vs man because this guy is beating Elie almost to death. Elie wasn't able to do anything back to him.
- Man Vs Nature
- "Why did I pray? Strange Question. Why did I live? Why did I breathe?" (Wiesel 4). Elie is questioning himself. He is wondering why he did things and why he is alive and other people aren't
- Man Vs Society
- "What does Your grandeur mean, Master of the Universe, in the face of all his cowardice, this decay and this memory?" (Wiesel 66). Elie is questioning God on how he could let all this bad things happen. How he could let innocent people die and be tortured.
- "The icy wind whipped my face. I was constantly biting my lip so that they wouldn't freeze." (Wiesel 89) Elie is outdoors right after running in the freezing cold. Elie says that the wind is freezing and that it is so cold he has to bite his lip so they will not freeze. That just shows how cold it is outside.
- "To hang a child in front of thousands of onlookers" (Wiesel 64). This is man vs society because the society and community of the nazis were targeting these people. They hung a child in front of thousands of people and they just watched. The nazis against a little kid.
