- One afternoon when Bruno was passing by his father's office, he hears his father and mother were arguing
- "There are hundreds of children here ""Only they are on the other side of the fence
- "I can see them from my bedroom window and they look like there are hundred of children wearing striped pajamas "
- "What do you mean there are hundreds of children over there""What do you know of what goes on over there?"
- Bruno's mother kept very quiet during the day and was having an awful lot more of her afternoon naps, some of them not even in the afternoon but before lunch and was talking quite so many medicinal sherries.
- This is when Bruno's father asked him and Gretel whether they wanted to go back to berlin with their mom but Bruno thought he would miss Shmuel when he will go to berlin.
- This is when Bruno doesn't think before he speaks and finally tells his father about those people he can see through his window.
