- Bruno offers Shumel some food when he sees him cleaning cups at his house but is scared of Lieutenant Kotler.
- Bruno reassures Shmuel that Lieutenant Kotler won't find out and urges him to just eat the food as he looks famished.
- What are you doing?! Bruno! Do you know who he is?!
- Shmuel eventually gives in and begins eating the food given by Bruno, thanking him profusely for the food he had given him.
- I've never met him in my entire life, i swear
- However, after some time Lieutenant Kotler comes into the kitchen to check on Shmuel and sees Shmuel eating food and Bruno in the same room as him.
- Lieutenant Kotler gets angry at the two boys and demands an answer from Bruno while Shmuel is left worried sick knowing what could happen to him if Bruno says the wrong thing.
- Bruno says that he has never met Shmuel in his entire life, Shmuel looks dead but Lieutenant Kotler looks satisfied with his answers
