Classical conditioning (also known as Pavlovian or respondent conditioning) is learning through association and was discovered by Pavlov, a Russian physiologist. In simple terms; two stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response in a person or animal.
The dogs are waiting for their owners to come home.
When the garage door opens the dogs most likely won't pay any attention to it since it is a neutral stimulus and there is no response.
This would be the unconditioned stimulus since it occurs naturally. The reaction of the dogs would be the unconditioned response since they get excited when seeing a person or dog. They also know that they will receive a treat for waiting patiently for their owners.
Once their owners have arrived, the dogs will become happy and greet them
The dogs are waiting for their owners to come home once again.
This would be the neutral stimulus turning into the conditioned stimulus since the neutral stimulus is associated with the unconditioned stimulus. After some time the dogs have learned that their owners will enter the home oncethe garage door opens. This causes the dogs to respond and become happy which is their unconditioned response.
This would be the neutral stimulus turning into the conditioned stimulus since the neutral stimulus is associated with the unconditioned stimulus. After some time the gods would learned that their owners will enter the house once the garage door opens. This causes the dogs to respond and show emotion which is their unconditioned response.
Once the garage door opens the dogs will get excited since they know that their owners are home.
The neutral response has officially changedto the conditioned stimulusand the dog's response, getting excited, has been changedto the conditioned response. The dogs will wait anxiously to greet their owners and to receivea treat since they heard the garage door open.
The neutral response has officially changed to the conditioned stimulus and the dog's response, getting excited, has been changed to the conditioned response. The dogs will wait anxiously and excitedly to greet their owners and their sign is the sound of the garage door opening
Now whenever the garage door opens, the dogs will get excited!
